FOUGASSE

A specialty French bread

3 1/2 ounces warm milk
1 package yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
4 ounces soft butter
3 eggs
1 pound flour
2 teaspoons Cognac

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast, salt and sugar in the warm milk. Let stand 10 minutes.
In an electric mixer, combine the yeast mixture with the butter, eggs, flour and cognac.
Mix until dough is smooth and elastic.
Refrigerate 12 hours. Fill a buttered ring mold and let rise 1 hour. Brush with egg and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
