BEEF
STROGONOFF
serves 4
2
tablespoons canola or vegetable oil 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin
strips 1 cup sliced onion 1 teaspoon minced garlic 8 ounces fresh
mushrooms, sliced 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup red wine 1/2 cup sour cream 2 tablespoons Knorr brown sauce
mix 1/2 cup cold water 4 ounces egg noodles, cooked and drained
In a large skillet, heat oil over high heat to a smoking point. Add
meat and brown lightly for a minute. Transfer meat to a bowl and set aside.
Add onion, garlic, and mushrooms. Saute for 5 minutes. Season to taste with
salt and pepper. Add red wine. Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat. In a mixing
bowl stir brown sauce mix and cold water. Mix into sauce. Bring to a boil.
Add beef and sour cream. Heat to boiling point. Serve over hot cooked egg
noodles.
